“It’s combat fishing.”Elbow to elbow, fishermen eager to snag a striped bass have lined both banks of the Merrimack River, from the Falls Bridge, south to the double-decker bridge and beyond.
Lures with barbed hooks fly through the air, splashing in the rushing water.
On weekends, the shoreline fishermen are joined by a flotilla of boaters, who flock to the river’s hot spots in search of striped bass, which are swimming upstream in pursuit of their prey river herring and shad.
