Attend the Newburyort MA The Prisoner of Second Avenue at The Actors Studio held April 13-29, 2012 at The Tannery at 50 Water Street .
Forty years later, Neil Simons words resound both as time capsule and contemporary prophecy.
The Actors Studio of Newburyport revivesNeil Simons The Prisoner of Second Avenue.
The Prisoner of Second Avenue is a symphony of sounds; the sounds of the city, neighbors, the media, family, the sounds of a couple encountering each other in the ever-shrinking, malfunctioning container that is their life.In this complex dark comedy, Neil Simon captures the hope and despair inherent in the American Dream. His characters Mel and Edna Edison discover how fragile the dream is when, midway through the arch of their lives, Mel loses his job as a Madison Avenue Exec and is forced to see the world through new eyes. Many of us can relate to the issues addressed in this play. Presented on Broadway in 1971, the story resonates strongly in todays economic climate, as many highly skilled professionals find themselves unemployed or ridiculously underemployed.
Directed by Marc CloptonFeaturing Arlene Barnard, Bob DeLibero, Danny Gerstein, Kari Cretella-Nikou, Mary Shapiro, and Teresa Spaulding

REVIEWS ARE IN!
“Wow. Super strong performances by the entire cast I loved the humor interspersed into a serious topic that is, as an executive, a little close to home. The great recession makes PoSA still relevant, and the laughs put the situation in perspective and, in the end, uplifting. Kudos to directors, cast, and crew! ”
