Sailing to the Isle of Shoals
As we reach the Isle of Shoals we grab an empty mooring or drop the anchor in Goffsport Harbor. We usually dingy over to either Star Island or Smutty nose where we can explore and have a picnic. This is a nice take especially for those who have never been.
The Isle of shoals was once a fishing village of 400 families. As the home of pirates, and loyalist this was a very rough place to live. During the revolution these people were forced back to the mainland giving the new government more control of the area.
Star Island is now the home of a retreat area for the Unitarian and Congregational churches. Visitors have plenty of photo opportunities, and are welcome to visit their museum when open.
This is a nice trip saling to the Isle of Shoals or Rockport and affordably priced at $450 for a family of four. Additional fee per person up to 6 people.
